Kratom Legal Status & Ban Update (2020)

Kratom (Mitragyna Speciosa) is a substance obtained naturally from a tree leaf that is considered a food product in many places around the world.

This extract is an anti-inflammatory and helps with pain relief and calms down the mind. It is widely used in culinary preparations around the world and is considered a delicacy in some places.

Is Kratom legal or illegal?

Kratom is legal in most parts of the world, including the USA. These laws banning kratom are based on prejudice and misinformation about the effects of this substance.

This stimulant has greatly improved the quality of life for countless residents in these places, improving their mental state as well as alleviating physical stress. But with laws in place banning this substance, it is no longer legally available in these states.

A few years ago, Kratom was classified as a substance of concern by the DEA, since its effects were not well known at the time. This is not uncommon amongst other stimulants that appear in the market.

We’ve come a long way since then, and there is no evidence suggesting that kratom has adverse side effects such as the ones cited by the governments outlawing it. Most states actually classify kratom as a food substance.
